Bull Riding Show Posters

Designed 8+ unique event flyers for promotional and informational purposes for the Next Level Pro Bull Riding Summer Swing Tour.

Design Brief

1. Purpose:

  • The flyers are intended to attract attendees by showcasing the thrill of bull riding, event specifics, and to promote ticket sales.

2. Target Audience:

  • Bull riding enthusiasts, families looking for summer activities, sports fans, and local community members.

3. Design Considerations:

  • Each flyer must reflect the adrenaline and excitement of bull riding.
  • Incorporate feature photographs by Kingdom Media Company photographers.
  • Use a consistent branding look (fonts, colors, basic layout and general information) for all flyers but with custom information for location, dates, times and prizes.

Design Process

a. Research and Concept Development:

  • Previous Flyers: refer to existing flyers for basic information and an idea of what needs to be communicated.
  • Branding: Develop a new, exciting, cohesive look with the tour's logo, colors, photography and typography.

b. Flyer Specifications:

  • Size: Standard flyer size: 8.5” x 11”.
  • Orientation: Vertical for better visibility on notice boards and social media platforms.

c. Design Elements:

  • Imagery: Use high-quality, dynamic images of bull riders in action. Use photographs from Kingdom Media Company that capture movement and intensity.
  • Typography: Bold, intense, action-oritented fonts for headlines. Use of a script or western-style font for event name to add flair.
  • Layout: Consistent layout with variations:
    • Top section for event name and location
    • Middle for the main attraction image.
    • Bottom for sponsor logos, ticket information, and contact details.

d. Locations for flyers:

  • West Allis, WI (June 8)
  • Paducah, KY (June 22)
  • Grayslake, IL (July 28)
  • Woodstock, IL (Aug 2)
  • Belvidere, IL (Aug 9)
  • Big Rock, IL (Aug 10)
  • Morrison, IL (Aug 13)
  • Waterloo, IL (Sep 21)

e. Color Scheme:

  • Consistent across all flyers: Browns, blacks, reds, and yellows with white for text. Most of the color comes from the photographs.

f. Digital Optimization:

  • Flyers are designed to be easily shared online; include social media handles and a QR code leading to ticket sales or the event website.

Execution & Distribution

  • Printing: High-quality print for distribution at local businesses, sports bars, community centers, and event venues.
  • Digital Distribution:
    • Shared via social media platforms, local community groups, and email blasts to subscribers.
    • Website banners for each event on the tour's official site.

Challenges and Solutions

Challenge: Ensuring each flyer stands out while maintaining brand consistency.

  • Solution: Use a modular design where key elements like the event name, dates, and sponsor logos remain consistent, but the background image or a secondary color palette changes to reflect each photo’s uniqe characteristics.

Challenge: Limited space to convey all necessary information.

  • Solution: Prioritize information with QR codes for more details, keeping the flyer clean and visually appealing. (some used QR codes, some didn’t)

Outcome

The series of eight flyers effectively captured the essence of the Next Level Pro Bull Riding Summer Swing Tour, providing both visual allure and practical information. The designs were well-received, leading to heightened local interest, increased ticket sales, and broader social media engagement, showcasing how tailored design can significantly enhance event promotion.

Future Steps

  • Continuous monitoring and A/B testing to refine UX/UI elements.
  • Exploring AR for virtual features inspired by fashion industry trends.
  • Expanding into global markets with localized content and payment options.

This case study exemplifies how a thoughtful redesign can lead to tangible business improvements, reinforcing the importance of keeping pace with digital trends while staying true to brand identity.
